The Routledge Handbook of Economic Theology, edited by Stefan Schwarzkopf, economic theology is defined as: "The study of the forms of interaction between theological imaginaries on the one hand, and economic thought and economic-managerial practices on the other, both past and present." Jamé Bolds believes the local church is one of the most underestimated economic institutions in any community and has spent 20 years building things that prove it. He is a development economist and economic theologian, which means he thinks about faith and finance together. He also knows that combination sounds unusual, which is part of the point.
He is the founder and CEO of Pathmakers Foundation and Lead Pastor (Vision and Theology) of Victory Church in Yorktown, Virginia, where he developed the Churchenomics model, a framework for building financially self-sustaining churches and ministries now deployed across 19 cities in 12 states. Jamé holds an M.A. and M.A.R. from Gordon-Conwell and an M.P.A.P. from Rutgers Bloustein School, with graduate studies at Harvard. He is completing a Ph.D. in Theology and Development at Universiteit van Stellenbosch and serves as a board member and annual lecturer at the Harris Institute, University of Oxford, and has lectured at the University of Cambridge. He holds membership in the Society for Pentecostal Studies and the American Economic Association. He is Tejano 🌶️, married to his college girlfriend, has two comical and fantastic children, and drives a scratched F-150. He takes his theology seriously, rethinks his economics, and himself lightly.
